Lets do some math...Greuel owns Frontier Building Supply, Home Depot was granted right to open shop. Greuel stopped it..
1. Greuel Owns Building Supply Company in the Valley
2. She has stated in her interviews (KCET I believe) her main concern is the family owned business.
3. The Home Depot deal was already passed, Greuel had to Urge her fellow city council to change their vote and renege the deal.
4. Home Depot is a Building Supply Company.
5. No Home Depot so they have to go somewhere to by their materials. HHHmmmm lets see, I bet Frontier Building Supply would be glad to assist them wouldn't they?
6. There was no one running against Greuel, does that mean we take her like it or not?
7. With no one else running for City Council, guess who is going to win?
8. I see self interest written all over this deal, I do not think someone should own a building supply company when they make decisions of who builds, gets contracts, builds condos etc. in Valley Village and North Hollywood (District 2). I see another abuse of position, I see special interest, I see what I think to be more corruption. I see conflict of interest.

Home Depot Wants In, but Some Arms Aren’t Open
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 — A proposal to open a Home Depot is deeply dividing the mostly rural area of Sunland in northern Los Angeles, but not for the usual reasons.
Supporters of a Home Depot proposal to open a Sunland store wore T-shirts provided by the company at Los Angeles City Hall.
Nina Royal, a Home Depot opponent, at the City Hall hearing.
Opponents say they have no quarrel with a big-box store, but they want a large general-merchandise retailer, one that sells socks, not sockets. They fear that an outpost of the giant home-supply chain will bring too much truck traffic and hurt Sunland’s several hardware stores.
But Home Depot officials and supporters of the planned store argue that the objections are a smokescreen to conceal racist fears that it would attract scores of predominantly immigrant day laborers.
Ali Moderras, an expert in urban geography at the Pat Brown Institute at California State University, Los Angeles, said the Home Depot should have conducted environmental impact and traffic studies from the beginning, even though the city did not initially require the review.
“Market research is not enough any more,” Mr. Moderras said. “You really need the community support.
“This is a national problem. We will see more and more people waking up and objecting to some huge store popping up in their neighborhood.”
After more than 600 people attended a recent, and raucous, Los Angeles City Council meeting that quickly erupted in arguments over race and immigration status, the Council is considering whether to allow construction to proceed or to revoke the company’s building permits and require an environmental impact and traffic study. A vote is expected by Aug. 17.
“It’s not too often that our building permits are revoked,” said a spokeswoman for Home Depot, Kathryn Gallagher. “We’ve been working with the city from the beginning.”
Home Depot has spent more than $2 million over more than two years trying to open the store on the site of a 93,000-square-foot Kmart that closed a few years ago. Ms. Gallagher emphasized that Home Depot was committed to opening it even if the review process took another year or two.
At a more tempered Council meeting on Tuesday, several Latinos said in Spanish or halting English that they supported Home Depot because it would bring jobs to the area.
A local contractor, Jose Yglesias, told Council members to focus their attention not on Home Depot but on solving problems of crime and drug use in Sunland. Since he moved to the area 10 years ago, Mr. Yglesias said, two of his cars have been stolen and his young son brought home crystal meth.
“We have a problem in our schools,” Mr. Yglesias said. “There’s a lot of drugs going on. There is a lot of car thieves around. Let’s take care of the drugs, not Home Depot.”
Some local opponents countered that Home Depot has bused in Latinos to create the illusion of community support, while ignoring the sentiments of residents.
“They manufacture support, and they manufactured this racism thing,” said Joe Barrett, a prop designer for feature films. “They’re trying to detract from the real story, and that is traffic and all their trucks.”
Mr. Barrett was referring to trucks delivering merchandise to the store as well as those belonging to contractors and other customers. The store is close to an elementary school and a mobile home park for the elderly.
Ms. Gallagher said the company did not pay supporters to attend Council meetings but did acknowledge that it took them to and from the meeting and furnished them with Home Depot T-shirts. The Los Angeles Daily News, on its Web site, posted a memorandum leaked from a public relations firm hired by Home Depot that detailed how more than $24,000 was spent recruiting, feeding, clothing and busing crowds from Sunland, Tujunga and “adjacent communities” to City Hall to express support for the planned store.
At a packed meeting of the Council planning committee meeting, the councilwoman representing Sunland, Wendy Greuel, urged her colleagues to revoke Home Depot’s building permits because its construction constituted more than a remodeling of the Kmart site because a new floor, new walls and a new ceiling had been added.
The committee agreed, leading to next week’s vote by the full City Council, which could require Home Depot to scale back its plans to accommodate traffic and other concerns.

HHmmmm traffic did not seem to matter on Magnolia??? Crooked City Council woman Greuel....
See, I witnessed and have shown you corruption for a illegal establishment, just because she doesn't like what I do. She would rather make sure a illegal club operates there (acting as a non profit organization) and collects tax free money nightly then allow a thug bully (as pussy Kulak calls me) have a quiet business where I operate legally, I am writing a book for Gawds sake. The Schaffel building developer thing bothers me too, I knew the fix was in but for them to pay an additional 20 grand because they got caught showing the fix was in, that's too much. Where is the _ucking investigation (pardon my french). This is the 3rd major condo development she has allowed in Valley Village and the streets of Magnolia do not accommodate it. I was congestion there daily, I have been here almost 14 years (5228 Laurel Canyon, Laurel Canyon and Magnolia for those who want to know exactly where).
70 some odd people who were protected by rent control now are looking for new homes. Lets not stop there, this is his 3rd Valley Village monster plex wendy has allowed through. That means hundreds of families who were living in rent controlled buildings are now homes less or forced to move to somewhere else, it wont be Valley Village, the prices here are crazy!!!.
I can't hear them but I am sure they all have something to say. Rent control is a good thing, people can't afford to be at the mercy of the landlords who want to rape them. Shouldn't the city council be protecting these people? Who protects the public from a self centered Queen of Valley Village who dictates what happens and doesn't listen. see on my deal Homeowners Association said no, Neighborhood Council said no (no to Kulaks being allowed to operate) but to hell with them, she had Lourdes Green grant it anyway, the PLANNING FIX WAS IN>THEN ONTO CITY COUNCIL WHERE DAMN IT THE FIX WAS IN THERE TOOO. And when Kulak voided the variance, no one did shit, when the variance eventually expired after 2 years, Greuel suggests he get an extension on it and apply for a different permit. Kulak was too stupid to even do that, he did not apply for an extension on the variance, he simply disregarded it then and went on with a new plan where there weren't those strict guild lines, Sound proofing, come on, what's that Nut Peyton think we are doing with Drums, electric guitars, microphones, bass guitars, etc....Playing them?????? No he determined himself he doesn't need Sound proofing, let the neighbors eat eggs, Kulaks got Wendy behind him...
The planning officers call made to a person who was being evicted, leaving a message even and letting them know the fix was in. Greuel wanted it and that's the way it goes. Los Angeles City council is a bunch of yes people, it is Greuel's district so they let her have her way. Plus, she is a smart one, she is one of the few up there who have not been caught in a corruption thing, donation scandals, etc. Another funny thing is most of the guys or girls who are city council who got caught with the donation scams and had to give money back, got re-elected anyway. And the same contributors who gave to them gave to Wendy but its ok when she takes their money????? Everyone knows the entire city council used to be a pay to play group of people.
Hey, if your in a contest and no one else is, I believe you will be the winner regardless how dirty you are.
I think Greuel's owning Frontier building supply and being city Los Angeles council woman is a conflict of interest. Further more, if she gets the Comptroller position she has her eye on for the next move, WOW are we a bunch of stupid ass idiots.
This is Los Angeles and I guess a lot of people just don't care. Or since it is the melting pot, they have not gotten so organized that they can group themselves together and make a difference or enough noise that someone hears them.
I have learned one thing, no one gives a shit here. The city council woman has back a criminal operation and made sure it ran against criminal court orders 2 separate times for a total of 2 years, probation (the same 2 years), a variance she fought to make happen (another 2 years), Building and Safety orders to not operate and not even occupy the building that have been active since 2004.
Yep, that's the Los Angeles City Council woman Wendy Greuel and do you know what your going to do about it?
Nothing.
